A Message from Superintendent Jill Jay
I began my journey as an educator in 1977, teaching 2nd graders in a rural district in Central Indiana. I could not have imagined at that time how many opportunities I would have over the next 36 years, and how many incredible people would come into my life through education.
I can truly say that the best years of my career have been the past nine here at Mill Creek. I have had the privilege of working beside so many dedicated teachers, parents, and community members who hold this corporation close to their hearts. Their passion for ensuring that our students succeed in life is truly astounding, and a source of inspiration for me.
At Mill Creek, each of our students is more than a number, and certainly more than a test score. Although we are trained to use standardized test scores as benchmarks, I challenge each of you to become engaged in our schools to see first-hand the amazing work happening each and every day. We measure our success in this district individually, student by student. It will always be “Students First” here, and we make decisions to best serve the needs of ALL of them.
If you are not sure how to get involved, please contact the PTO in each school, or your students’ teachers to see how your volunteer efforts could make a difference for our schools. If you would like to learn more about good things happening on a daily basis, I invite you to follow me on Twitter. (Jill Jay@MillCreekSupt)
I would also like to introduce to the Mill Creek community Mr. Jim Diagostino, our new Assistant Superintendent. Jim lives in Pittsboro with his wife, Tricia, and four children. The former principal of Tri-West High School, Jim also has most recently served as the Assistant Superintendent of Mooresville Schools, overseeing the budget, maintenance, transportation, and facilities. Jim has also served as an executive committee member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
I know you join me in welcoming Jim to the Mill Creek family of educators.
I am looking forward to a great 2013-14 school year. Working together, we can be proud that We Are Mill Creek Community Schools!
