Parents and Guardians,

I hope all is well.  We appreciate your continued support as we respond to new guidance and requirements.

We are small schools . . . BIG OPPORTUNITIES!  We are an "A" rated school corporation with "A" rated schools, Four Star Schools, an eLearning School Corporation, a Riley Children's Foundation Miracle School Corporation, and Cascade High School is a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School!  #ssBO

Again, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at MCCSC.  We aim to maintain!  Social distancing, hand washing, and surfacing sanitizing continue to be the most effective methods for lessening the spread.

Please refer to the below information for details on the education programming for MCCSC beginning Monday, April 6 - Friday, May 1.  We aim to keep you informed with up to date information for the federal, state, county, and local levels.  The COVID-19 situation is fluid.

Please enjoy Spring Break 2020 and plan accordingly for April 6.

Thanks for all you do to provide support, insistence, and high expectations.

At this time, I wanted to review a few of the MCCSC COVID FAQ.

Administrative Services Center and Maintenance Team Operations

Our ASC will be operational from Monday - Wednesday from March 16 - April 1. Our team members will be working offsite on Thursdays and Fridays. Please email one of our team members or call 319-539-9200 for assistance.

Our maintenance team members will be completing a few projects and maintaining the security and efficiency of our buildings through modified scheduling from March 16 - April 5.

Home Learning Guidance

  • Please know that if you have technology issues, please call our Tech Hotline # 317-539-1690.
  • Responses will be handled between 8:00 am -3:00 pm daily. After hours calls will continue to automatically create a ticket for action the next office day.
  • If you have an individual course/lesson question, please reach out to your teacher/building administrator for help. They are readily available to support you as well.

Professional Support—Teachers Expectations

Teachers are being asked to facilitate learning in a totally different way themselves, and due to this being a fluid situation with many unknowns, we will be asking them to make adjustments often. We also have to acquire grades for much of this work as well.

While we have had several successful Home Learning Days in the past, we’ve never had to hold this many consecutively; therefore, I’m working closely with teachers and administrators to make changes and add support programs.

We will continue to introduce/train them in new programs/means of support so they can provide the best possible distance learning for students.

Exceptional Learners

We have been working closely with our High Ability and Special Education teachers since last Friday to ensure support services are in place for these learners.

We can safely say that all Teachers of Record have either reached out to your child/you, whether interacting through our Learning Management System (Canvas) or Google Hangouts. While others also made deliveries of learning packets at the end of last week/over this past weekend to your homes. If you have any needs or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Teachers are readily accessible via email.

Assessment

Locally, our tech team and teachers are working together to ensure we can meet student needs. They will likely have to take some tests/quizzes or exit tickets at home.

At the state level, IDOE has currently postponed the ISTEP+ for HS students, and the IREAD-3 for our 3rd graders. Dr. McCormick, State Supt of Education, has also requested a waiver for ILEARN & IAM which impacts all students 3rd -10th grades.

State assessments are legislatively mandated which require Governor Holcomb’s approval to postpone or cancel for Spring 2020. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

03-12-20 6:30pm

Parents and Guardians,

As I am sure you are aware, Governor Holcomb announced today additional steps the state will take to reduce the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Indiana. As of noon today, the state has 12 Hoosiers who have tested presumptively positive for COVID-19.

While there are no suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at MCCSC, we aim to follow the lead of our Governor as stated "we must do all we can to reduce the spread of COVID-19, protect our most vulnerable populations and reduce their potential to acquire or spread this virus."

With this information, all MCCSC will be closed tomorrow, Friday, March 13. It is NOT a Home Learning Day. All scheduled activities are cancelled.

Our schools will be open tomorrow from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm for parents/students to pick up ESSENTIAL items (medicines, glasses, Chromebook, etc.). Please check-in at the main office of our schools for assistance. This pick up should be an expedited trip to avoid any social gathering.

Beginning Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 20, MCCSC will have Home Learning Days. Our students will complete their teacher designed lessons through their Chromebooks and Canvas or previously designed arrangement.

We are devising a plan for breakfast and lunch "to go bags" beginning Monday, March 16 - 20. More information forthcoming!

This is an unprecedented time for the United States, Indiana, and MCCSC. We know these decisions impact our students, staff, and families. We aim to do our part in preventing the spread and protecting the vulnerable.

#ssBO

Thanks for all you do to provide support, insistence, and high expectations.

Parents and Guardians,

First of all, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in MCCSC. If this were to occur, we would notify staff, students, and parents/guardians from the involved school(s) and rely on our partnerships with the Hendricks County and State of Indiana health officials for the most up-to-date advice about next steps in our response. We have utilized Home Learning Days for inclement weather and staff professional development for several years. We could use this mode of instruction for a time if school closure were ordered or deemed necessary. We are aware of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hendricks and Marion counties, including a neighboring school district.

In closing, I wanted to again share information regarding the "Novel Coronavirus" (COVID-19) from the federal, state, and local level. Student safety is always our #1 priority and everyone plays a vital role. Please take the time to read and peruse the linked information below. Simple, common sense measures are the best prevention!

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid shaking hands - use a fist bump, elbow bump, or foot bump.
