Curriculum Review
Per SEA 442 - Instruction on Human Sexuality - Schools must update instruction on human sexuality or sexually transmitted infections to include an emphasis on abstinence from sexual activity until marriage as the standard for school aged children. Instruction should include a presentation including videos on each stage of human growth and development during pregnancy from fertilization to birth. Instruction should also include age appropriate information concerning consent.
Curricular materials used to provide instruction on human sexuality must first have been approved by the school board. A list of these materials must be published on the school website.
Parents must be notified before instruction on human sexuality occurs. The notice must include a summary of the content that will be provided to the students, whether the students will be taught to males and females in a separate or unified setting, whether the instructor is male or female, and include a statement that parents have a right to review these materials.
CMS Health Class - Students are awarded high school credit after successful course completion.
